The Institute for Architecture and Design
Based on Utzon’s architecture heritage this project of the “Institute of Architecture and Design” consists of several layers that are derived from a crucial input – the imaginative presence of areas and grids. The structure is deliberately unfinished or, we can say, infinitively expandable, as more of the Utzon’s projects are.

Foundational “interruptive” layer was implemented: the “Utzon code”, i.e. a conceptual tool used to self-generate the new architectural structures. Utzon Code, because the ratios, patterns and laws used by Utzon in his most representative architectures have been used to transform layered geometry.

Functional scheme
The layers of design inputs create a composition with a hierarchy of ‘one-to-many’ – single units are composed and manipulated through operations of shifts, trims and overlaps. The result is The Institute micro city, which opens to the fjord and stretches in its own field.
